Dear CKAPhA Pharmacy Owner Members:
As you may be aware, the California Department of Healthcare Services (DHCS) has changed the methodology of reimbursing pharmacies for their service as of February 23, 2019, based on NADAC + dispensing fee ($13.20). NADAC pricing is causing many prescriptions to be underpaid.
In addition to that, Medi-Cal plans to “Claw-back” and withhold Medi-Cal prescription payments/reimbursements starting the end of May 2019 until pharmacy “pays up” the differences between April 2017 – Feb 2019 period, since it took DHCS two years to study and implement the new payment method.
Independent pharmacy owners within CPhA created a separate group called “Community Pharmacy Advocacy Group” and they are preparing to take legal action to stop the claw-back.
