Last week's letter-writing campaign to promote critically needed DIR relief on Capitol Hill has stirred the pot and NACDS RxIMPACT is calling on you to act yet again to advance a NEW DIR relief movement taking place in the U.S. House of Representatives. Write your letter TODAY to keep the momentum going and build support for a NEW HOUSE DIR RELIEF CONGRESSIONAL SIGN-ON LETTER!
Together, our community flooded Capitol Hill with 6,000 passionate advocate letters communicating the urgent need for direct and indirect remuneration (DIR) fee reform considering the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announcement it is not implementing DIR fee reform for 2020. The disappointment Members of Congress are feeling about this announcement is elevating as Congress continues to enlist support behind DIR relief legislation – and other efforts like congressional sign-on letters to raise the stakes on the biggest issue our community has ever faced.
Late yesterday, members of the U.S. House of Representatives were asked to support a congressional sign-on letter authored by Representatives Peter Welch (D-VT), Buddy Carter (R-GA), Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX), and Morgan Griffith (R-VA) by June 10 to tell the Administration to enact pharmacy DIR fee reform this year. We must rally – yet again – to tell Representatives to support this important sign-on letter!
Last week's letters reached 90% of the entire US Congress in asking them to support a legislative solution called the Phair Pricing Act (H.R.1034) by Representatives Doug Collins (R-GA) and Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX) in the House. The bill would require that all pharmacy price concessions be included at the point of sale for Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage. Put simply, this legislation would deliver relief to patients and pharmacies from DIR fees. Your letters have already inspired at least 20 U.S. Senators to support a congressional sign-on letter being circulated by Senators Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV) and Jon Tester (D-MT) that would lower prescription costs, address pharmacy challenges, and improve pharmacy care quality.
NACDS RxIMPACT is calling on you to write your legislators to encourage all members of the U.S. House of Representatives to work to support and advance the Phair Pricing Act and to lend their name to the Welch sign-on letter!
Pharmacy is resilient and will stop at nothing to promote these critical reforms because our pharmacies and patients are depending on it. This is our moment to prove that. Please send your letter today!
